Leaders of the Ganatantrik Chhatra Jote in a press statement on Monday said that although the Awami League government was trying to control the students’ movement applying forces and repressions, by doing so the ongoing students’ movements could not be controlled.

A combine of student organisations also condemned repressions of the law enforcers on Nahid Islam, one of the coordinators of the Students Movement against Discrimination, a platform for the quota reform system in government job.


On July 20, law enforcers picked up Nahid from his residence and led repressions on him, now he was admitted in a hospital, they said.

Signatory to the statement are president of Bangladesh Students’ Union faction and coordinator of the combine Ragib Nayim, Samajtantrik Chhatra Front president Salman Siddiqui, Biplabi Chhatra Maitri president Dilip Roy, Ganatantrik Chhatra Council president Saedul Haque Nishan, Bangladesh Chhatra Federation president Mitu Sarker, Pahari Chhatra Parishad president Ankan Chakma and Biplabi Chhatra Juba Andolan president Taofika Priya.
