
The Jatiya Party on Friday said that it would extend its full support to Nobel laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus-led interim government formed on Thursday.
Secretary general of the party Mohammad Mujibul Haque Chunnu at a press conference at Banani office of chairman Ghulam Muhmmad Quader said that the party had full support to the interim government.
Among the 17 members of the interim government, 14 members took oath at Ganabhaban and the rest three would take oath later, Chunnu said.
Mujibul Haque Chunnu hoped that the interim government would hold a free, fair and credible national election in the country holding required reforms within the justified time.
The first task of the interim government would be the restoration of law and order, fulfilling the justified demands of the Bangladesh Police, giving compensations to the family members of the students and people who killed in the movements of the student for reforms of quota in the government jobs, Mujibul Haque demanded.
He also said that the interim government should give government job to a member of the killed families, and hold trials of the killers of the students and people in the movement.
The interim government, moreover, should take steps to revive the economy of the country and increase remittance and foreign investments, Chunnu urged.
The presidium members of the party Shamim Haider Patwary, Rejaul Karim Bhuiyan, Nazma Akter, among others, attended the conference.
