
The Ganatantra Mancha, a combine of six political parties, on Wednesday called on the interim government to make a complete list of martyrs who sacrificed their lives in recent movement of the students and people.
The coordinator of the combine and also president of Nagarik Oikya Mahmudur Rahman Manna at a press conference at party鈥檚 central office on Topkhana Road raised the demand.
After visiting village house of martyr Abu Sayed, a student of Begum Rokeya University, Mahmudur Rahman Manna said that Sayed was killed in police firing at the beginning of the movement.
The complete list must include Abu Sayed and others who sacrificed their lives in the movement of students and people, Manna said.
He also demanded trials and exemplary punishment for killers of more than 650 students and people.
Revolutionary Workers Party general secretary Saiful Huq called on the interim government to fix a date for remembering the martyrs nationally.
He called on the interim government to take steps for holding a free, fair and credible general election after holding required reforms as early as possible.
Ganosamhati Andolan chief coordinator Zonayed Saki called on the interim government to make the list of the martyrs within the shortest possible time.
The government should take initiatives for treatment of more than 26 thousand wounded students and people and giving their family members compensations, Saki said.
Bhashani Onusari Parishad convener Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu demanded trials of leaders of the Awami League, including its president Sheikh Hasina, on charge of killings of students and people during the student movement.
Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-JSD vice-president Siraj Mia said that the main task of the interim government was to hold a free, fair and credible general election in the country and they should work for that.
Rastra Sanskar Andolan organising secretary Imran Emon said that interim government should hold trials of corrupt leaders of the Awami League, including its president Sheikh Hasina, forming a special tribunal.
