
Leaders of the Ganatantra Mancha, a combine of six political parties, on Sunday expressed concern over divisions within the pro- students and people movement political parties after victory of the movement.
Steering committee members of the combine in a joint statement said that there was no alternative but to forge unity among the pro-movement political forces for implementation of the spirits of the students movement against discrimination and formation of a democratic country where rights of the ordinary people would be established.
After fall of the Sheikh Hasina government in the face of a student-led mass uprising on August 5, an interim government was formed on August 8, the leaders said, adding that the government would hold required reforms for holding a free, fair and credible general election within a justified time.
But after several weeks of victory of the movement, some political parties have started creating divisions among the political parties and are trying to assert dominance over others and influence decisions taken by the interim government, they said.
They are leading attacks on women in different parts of the country and have attacked the shrines, Hindu temples, they said.
The Ganatantra Mancha is ready to cooperate with the interim government and form a national unity for democratic transition of the country, the leaders said.
