A Juba League leader was hacked to death by a group of assailants in the Chhota Darogarhat area under Sitakunda upazila in Chattogram early Saturday.
The deceased, Md Firoz Khan, 35, of North Kalabaria Village under the upazila, served as the organising secretary of Baraiyadhala Union Juba League, the youth organisation of the Awami League.
Sitakunda Police Station officer-in-charge Mojibur Rahman said that Firoz was staying at a relative鈥檚 house in the Lalanagar area and, at about 1:00am on Saturday, the assailants attacked him with sharp weapons outside the house.
The victim was rushed to Sitakunda Upazila Health Complex in a critical condition and attending doctors declared him dead, he said.
He said that no case was filed in this connection and none was arrested until Saturday evening.
