Four people, including Abul Kalam, convener of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s youth wing Juba Dal in Noakhali Sadar upazila’s Purba Charmatua union, were held Monday morning during a joint forces operation for making TikTok videos with firearms.
Lieutenant colonel Rifat Anwar, in-charge of the Noakhali army camp, confirmed the matter, stating that two pipe guns, a locally-made sharp weapon, three button mobile phones, and four android mobile phones were recovered in the raid.
‘We detained them on charges of possessing illegal firearms and handed them over to Sudharam police station,’ Anwar said.
Sudharam police station officer-in-charge Kamrul Islam reported that a case was filed against three individuals among the detained for illegal arms possession.
‘We have sent the trio to court, and they were landed in jail. Another individual of the detained was previously connected to a murder case, and further investigation has revealed his involvement in it,’ he said.
Seven individuals were initially detained for their involvement in TikTok videos featuring firearms; however, three were released as they were not found to be in possession of illegal arms, the OC added.
