The Bangladesh Nationalist Party has decided that they will not speak anything publicly on the issue of the removal of president Muhammed Shahabuddin until the government takes any move or seeks the BNP’s suggestion in this regard.

‘Our standing committee thinks that the student leaders have already got our message through several statements of the party’s senior leaders after the meeting with them in this regard,’ said a BNP standing committee member who was present at a meeting of the party’s highest policy-making forum held on Monday night.

BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman presided over the meeting virtually. All the party standing committee members attended the meeting.

The party thinks that the removal of the president would create a constitutional crisis, which may put the country in some new challenges, the standing committee member said.

Another standing committee member told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that the party will start a new mass communication programme in the districts and metropolitan cities in November to popularise its 31-point programme of state reform.

The standing committee meeting decided to hold programmes to strengthen organisational activities, he said.

Among these programmes, the ‘National Revolution and Solidarity Day’ will be celebrated in a grand manner on November 7 this year, he said.

On this occasion, there will be a 10-day programme in all the districts and cities across the country.

There will be a large-scale procession and discussion meeting in Dhaka to mark the day, he said.
