A case was filed with Munshiganj Sadar police station on Friday against more than 250 Awami League leaders and activists, including two former lawmakers, for attempting to murder a Bangladesh Nationalist Party activist during the student-mass uprising.

The BNP activist, Md Monzil Mollah, 53, who was injured on August 4 while taking part in the protest against the AL regime, filed the case, Munshiganj Sadar police station officer-in-charge Khalilur Rahman said.


The plaintiff named 142 AL leaders and activists including a former lawmaker for Munshiganj-1 constituency, Mohiuddin Ahmed, and a former lawmaker for Munshiganj-3 constituency, Mohammad Foysal, as accused in the case.

He also accused 100 to 150 other unidentified AL activists for attacking the protesters on August 4 when he and several others received injuries.

Monzil alleged that the attackers attempted to murder him on the day.
