Leaders of the Left Democratic Alliance, a combine of six left political parties, on Tuesday at a protest rally in Dhaka called on the interim government to take immediate steps to stop attacks on left party rallies across the country.
The LDA organised the rally in front of the National Press Club where its coordinator and coordinator of Socialist Party of Bangladesh (Marxist) Masud Rana chaired.
Masud Rana said that in the past some days in different parts of the country in the name of anti-discrimination student organisations and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, some miscreants led attacks on the rallies of the Communist Party of Bangladesh and Socialist Party of Bangladesh.
He called on the interim government to take immediate steps to stop the attacks.
SPB general secretary Bazlur Rashid Firoz also called on the interim government to take steps to stop attacks on Prothom Alo and The Daily Star offices in Dhaka.
CPB presidium member Sajjad Zahir Chandan called on the interim government to take steps to reduce price hikes of the essential commodities.
Revolutionary Communist League central leader Abdus Satter, Democratic Revolutionary Party general secretary Mushrefa Mishu and SPB (Marxist) central leader Shima Datta also spoke at the rally.
The rally was followed by a protest procession that paraded different city roads.
