
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party has dissolved the central committee of the Doctors Association of Bangladesh, the physicians’ body of the party.
The party had also formed a 12-member preparatory and management committee for the next DAB council, said a press release, signed by BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, on Monday.
‘The existing central committee of DAB, led by president Professor Harun Al Rashid and general secretary Dr Md Abdus Salam, has been dissolved,’ the release read.
Professor Harun Al Rashid was elected president and Md Abdus Salam general secretary of the DAB through direct voting by councillors on May 26, 2019.
The tenure of the committee was expired on May 25, 2024.
The newly formed preparatory and management committee has been tasked with completing the council proceedings within the next 45 days.
The 12-member committee includes BNP chairperson’s advisory council members Ismail Zabiullah, Bijon Kanti Sarker, Professor Mamun Ahmed, Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, national university pro-vice-chancellor Lutfor Rahman, BNP education secretary Professor ABM Obaidul Islam, health secretary Rofiqul Islam, assistant office secretaries SM Rofiqul Islam, Parvez Reza Kakon, and members of the dissolved committee Shah Mohammad Aman Ullah, Erfan Ahmed Shohel, and Mustafa Aziz Suman.
