Different political parties on Friday at separate rallies protested at interim government鈥檚 decision to increase gas prices in industries.

They also protested at hikes in prices of soya bean oil.


Urging the government to revoke the decision to increase prices, the parties said that such increases would increase prices of the essential commodities resulting in sufferings of the people.

The Anti-Fascism Left Alliance, a combine of six political parties and Rastra Sanskar Andolan, a partner of the Ganatantra Mancha, held the rallies in front of the National Press Club protesting at the聽decisions.

The interim government has recently increased 33 per cent of gas price in industries and also increased Tk 18 per litre in soya bean oil.

Coordinator of Anti-fascism Left Alliance Nasir Uddin Nasu said that increases in prices would increase sufferings of the common people.

Hasnat Quaiyum, chief coordinator of Rastra Sanskar Andolan, a partner of the Ganatantra Mancha,聽聽 said that frequent increases in prices would run contrary to the spirit of the students-led mass uprising.

He called on the interim government to scrap the decisions and hold the next general election as early as possible.

Central leaders of the party Zakia Sishir, labour leader Mintu Mia, Sheikh Nasiruddin and others spoke at the rally.

The rally was followed by a protest procession that paraded different city roads.
