Leaders of the Revolutionary Workers Party of Bangladesh, a partner of Ganatantra Mancha, on Friday at the opening session of its organisational conference in Dhaka called on the interim government to take steps to hold the next general election by December.

General secretary of the party, Saiful Huq, said at the two-day conference in the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh conference room at Ramna聽聽聽 that the next general election should be held by December or earlier for democratic transition of the country.


Without holding the election, the current political and economic crisis could not be resolved, he added.

Saiful Huq also said that the interim government in their eight-month rule failed to control law and order, implement the spirit of July uprising聽 and also did not announced a road map for holding the next general election.聽聽

He called on all the political parties to be united in implementing the spirit of the July uprising and holding the next general election as early as possible for democratic transition of the country.

Chaired by politburo member of the party Bannishikha Jamali, central leader Shahidul Alam Nannu, Mahbubul Karim Tipu, Akbar Khan, Abu Hasan Tipu, Ansar Ali Dulal and others discussed the party political report placed in the conference.

In the second half, Akbar Khan who was in charge of the party organisation placed the organisational report.聽
