Theatre troupe Mad Theatre staged the eighth show of its theatrical production titled ‘Rabindranather Dwitiya Bijaya’ at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Tuesday.

Rabindranather Dwitiya Bijaya, the second production of Mad Theatre, has been written and directed by Asadul Islam, who said that Mad Theatre received huge response from theatre lovers both at home and abroad for Rabindranather Dwitiya Bijaya.

Premiered in Bangladesh on May 13, 2023, Rabindranather Dwitiya Bijaya was also staged in India.

The play explores interactions between Rabindranath Tagore and Victoria Ocampo along with the Nobel laureate’s feelings for the Argentine writer.

Rabindranath Tagore decides to travel to Peru at the invitation of the country’s government to celebrate the country’s centenary of independence in 1924. He boards a ship from Colombo port in Sri Lanka. But he catches influenza.

Although he sets out for Peru, he is unable to continue the two-month-long journey and gets off the ship after it reaches Argentina.

During his days of illness at the Plaza Hotel, Victoria Ocampo visits him. Under her care, he begins to recover and the play moves forward.

Asadul Islam played the character of Rabindranath Tagore and Sonia Hasan played the character of Victoria Ocampo in the play.
