With the global demand for crabs on the rise, expanding crab farming in Bangladesh presents a significant opportunity for the country to boost its export income, said experts.聽
They said that developing this sector required increased research and collaboration between the government and non-government entities.聽
These comments were made by experts at a workshop titled 鈥楶ossibilities of the Crab Industry in Bangladesh, Existing Problems, and Possible Actions鈥�, held at the Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation Bhaban in the capital Dhaka on Tuesday.
The workshop was presided over by PKSF managing director Nomita Halder. Benoy Kumar Barman, interim country representative of the WorldFish Bangladesh, was guest of honour and PKSF additional managing director Md Fazlul Kader delivered the opening remarks, said a press release.聽
The event 鈥� organised under the Resilient Homestead and Livelihood Support to the Vulnerable Coastal People of Bangladesh project, funded by the Green Climate Fund 鈥� was moderated by PKSF deputy managing director Fazle Rabbi Sadeque Ahmed.
