The Export Promotion Bureau on Wednesday announced that businesses can apply online for allotment of spaces for stalls, pavilions and restaurants in the 29th Dhaka International Trade Fair.
According to the Export Promotion Bureau, the month-long 29th DITF will start on January 1, 2025 at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center at Purbachal on the outskirts of Dhaka.
About 350 pavilions and stalls of different categories will be allotted to local and foreign businesses.
The EPB developed a software to complete the online process of allocation of space.
Using the software, local businesses interested in participating in the 29th DITF can apply online for allotment of space in different categories as per their choice.
Bidders are required to submit the quoted rates online through Sonali Bank PLC’s ‘Sonali Payment Gateway’ for receiving space allotment.
An addendum agreement was signed between the EPB and the Sonali Bank head office at a programme at the TCB Bhaban in the capital Dhaka on Wednesday.
EPB secretary and DITF director Bibek Sarkar and Sonali Bank general manager Md Moniruzzaman signed the agreement.
Separate applications have to be submitted for allotment of more than one fair space in the manual process.
Application for allotment of multiple spaces can be made by filling in one form online.
The software will automatically select the participating companies based on the order of preference and quoted rates.
EPB vice-chairman Md Anwar Hossain, and Sonali Bank chief executive officer and managing director (in-charge) Subhash Chandra Das, among others, were present in the signing ceremony.
The government has been arranging the DITF since 1995 for the purpose of promoting, marketing and production of domestic products as well as creating economic opportunities.
