
Two market monitoring teams of the Ministry of Commerce on Wednesday fined seven grocery shops in a bid to keep stable the prices of essentials.
The market monitoring teams of the ministry conducted the drives at Townhall kitchen market at Mohammadpur and Malibagh kitchen market in the city.
The team monitored the prices of essential items like rice, lentil, eggs, and chicken, said a press commerce ministry release.
A team led by Zannatul Ferdous, deputy secretary of the ministry, fined five enterprises and groceries of Tk 3,500 for not properly hanging the price list and not preserving the vouchers of commodities.
Another team led by assistant secretary M Abdul Kader fined two shops in Malibagh market Tk 3,000 for not complying with the rules.
Officials of various departments under the ministry and members of the law enforcing agencies were present.
