Bangladesh’s export earnings increased by 10.63 per cent to $37.19 billion in the first nine months or July-March period of the current financial year 2024-25 compared with those of $33.61 billion in the same period of FY24, according to Export Promotion Bureau data.

The state agency provided this data, reflecting real-time shipment updates as per Asycuda World and the National Board of Revenue.


In March 2025, Bangladeshi exporters shipped goods worth $4.24 billion, a 11.44 per cent increase from that of $3.81 billion exported in March 2024.

In March 2025, the country’s readymade garment sector experienced a narrow positive growth of 12.40 per cent to $3.45 billion compared with that of $3.07 billion in March 2024.

In the first nine months of FY25, export earnings from almost all major sectors maintained positive growth.

In the mentioned period, the RMG sector posted a 10.84 per cent positive growth and bagged $30.24 billion, compared with that of $27.28 billion in the July-March period of FY24.

Among the RMG products, knitwear earned $16.15 billion, 11.22 per cent higher than $14.51 billion in the corresponding period of FY24, and woven earned $14.10 billion, 10.40 per cent higher than $12.77 billion in FY24.

Home textiles also witnessed a positive growth of 4.94 per cent to $677.6 million in the July-March period of FY25, up from $645.68 million in the same period of the past financial year.

The EPB data also stated that in the July-March period of FY25, the agricultural sector earned $807.06 million, a 6.14 per cent increase from $760.4 million in FY24.

Export earnings from leather and leather goods increased by 9.89 per cent to $852.1 million, which was $775.36 million in the same period of the previous financial year.

Engineering products’ exports grew 10.9 per cent to $402.45 million, up from $362.96 million in July-March of FY24.

However, the EPB data stated that, in July-March of FY25, export earnings from jute and jute goods experienced negative growth of 7.68 per cent to $626.29 million, which was $678.36 million in July-March of FY24.

Talking to ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ·, Faruque Hassan, former Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association president, said that apparel exports witnessed a positive growth in March and it was expected.

‘During Eid, we shipped some early consignments, which impacted our export earnings, Moreover, our works on diversification, sustainability and compliance also impact our earnings,’ he added.

He also said that the March earnings were satisfactory after a significant period of consecutive labour unrest and a fragile law and order situation.

‘However, as we ship our final summer consignments in February and March, there is always sluggishness in April and May. Our next month’s export may witness its impact,’ he added.

He said that the government and businesses were working on new US tariff through negotiations and diplomatic channels.

According to the EPB, the revised export earnings in FY24 were $44.47 billion, which were previously shown amounting $55.28 billion.
