The BSA drama and film department assistant director Ali Ahmed and cultural officer Chakladar Mustafa Al Masud delivered welcome speeches at the seminar.
‘It is often heard in our country that there is a lack of budget, the market is small, so good films are not made. It takes money to make a film, but money alone does not make a good film,’ said Mum.
He said that the uniqueness of a film was a necessary matter to attract the audience and today’s filmmakers should work on the matter.
Rafiquzzaman said that not many original films were made after 1975 which created a crisis in the country’s film industry.
Rafiquzzaman also urged the government to make arrangements to screen films in the auditoriums of BSA across the country and other auditoriums.
Bidhan emphasised on taking steps to make more joint venture films, include foreign casts in local films, release popular local films abroad, participate in international film festivals and others to expand the market of local films.
The government has been celebrating National Film Day annually on April 3 since 2012.
On April 3, 1957, the country’s founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the then industries and commerce minister, placed the East Pakistan Film Development Corporation Bill, 1957 in the provincial assembly of erstwhile East Pakistan.
