Two people including a house owner died on Sunday evening after inhaling toxic gas inside a septic tank while cleaning the tank at a house at West Rakhalia village of Sonapur union of Raipur upazila in Lakshmipur.
One of the deceased was owner of the house Riyad Hossain, son of Noor Nabi Leda, and a sweeper, whose name could not be known immediately, residents of the area.
Sweeper first went down into the septic tank to clean the septic tank of the house and he got trapped inside the septic tank while cleaning.
Later, the owner of the house Riyad Hossain聽went down to rescue him. None of them returned anymore, both died at about 8:00pm, officer-in-charge of the Raipur police station, Yasin Farooq Majumdar said.
Later, police and fire service rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies after breaking the septic tank, he said.
The bodies were kept at the Raipur Upazila Health Complex.
Necessary action will be taken after investigation, the OC added.
