
A five-year-old girl died after her father allegedly hit her head against a wall in the Hazaribagh area of ​​the capital.
The deceased is Jannatul, 5, the only child of Mohammad Rasel and Nasima Akhter.
Hazaribagh police sub-inspector Chanpa Sultana said on Tuesday that Rasel hit her head against the wall of their house on Monday evening as she refused to eat rice, leaving her seriously injured.
The police have arrested the father Mohammad Rasel, a Leguna driver.
The police officer said that the family hailed from Bhola and had been living in a rented house in the capital’s Hazaribagh area.
Jannatul was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where she died at about 3:30am on Tuesday while undergoing treatment, she said.
She also said that it was alleged that Rasel often tortured his wife and daughter.
The child’s body was kept at the morgue for an autopsy, added the police officer.
Hazaribagh police officer-in-charge Nur Mohammad said that the mother of the deceased filed a complaint in this regard on Tuesday.
