The Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank on Friday connected to the integrated bill payment system ekPay to facilitate citizens a convenient way for paying bills through Web Portal or Mobile Application.

It also upgraded its Mobile App, allowing the Grameenphone customers to use it without incurring any internet data cost.


The bank came up with the move towards Smart Banking at an inaugural ceremony, held at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Hi-tech Park, Rajshahi on Friday, where finance ministry’s financial institution division secretary Sheikh Mohammad Salim Ullah addressed as chief guest.

RAKUB chairman Roisul Alam Mondal, a2i joint project director Mollah Mijanur Rahman and executive director of Bangladesh Bank Rup Ratan Pain addressed the ceremony with RAKUB managing director Niranjan Chandra Debnath in chair.

Deputy general manager of ICT division Abul Kalam gave an illustration of the new apps together with presenting a paper titled ‘RAKUB Smart Banking Joyjatra towards building Smart Bangladesh’.

In his speech, secretary Salim Ullah said that the specialised RAKUB would be successful soon through its delivering quality, potential and welfare-oriented services as the present government was committed to do welfare of the country’s people through strengthening the financial institutions.

‘There is no way but to perform duties with utmost sincerity, honesty and devotion to attain success in the banking sector,’ he added.

On March 23, 2022, RAKUB launched its mobile App and internet banking to bring dynamism into its banking services.

On August 4, 2023, the bank also launched the system of opening accounts from home through e-KYC, QR code based checkless transaction and the iOS version of RAKUB e-banking mobile app in building Smart Bangladesh.

At present, around 40 lakh clients of the bank are being benefited in many ways, including banking transactions anytime and from anywhere, bill payment of utility services and opening of new bank accounts from home through 383 branches at 16 northwest districts of Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions.
