The Bangladeshi-flagged cargo vessel MV Abdullah, hijacked by Somali pirates and released after 32 days after paying ransom, will reach Al Hamriya Port in Dubai of the United Arab Emirates with its 23 crew on Sunday evening.

‘It is expected that the ship will reach at the AL Hamriya Port in Dubai at 6:00pm Sunday,’ said Mizanul Islam, spokesperson of SR Shipping, owner of the ship.

On April 14, the ship started for Dubai after its release and it crossed the high risk zone on Wednesday noon, added Mizanul.

He also said that after reaching Dubai, the ship would stay there for one week. From there, two crew members would reach Chattogram by air while the rest of them would come with the vessel.

MV Abdullah was hijacked by dozens of Somali pirates from the Indian Ocean and taken to the Somali coast on March 12. Pirates attacked the ship when it was headed to Al Hamriyah Port in the UAE, around 600 nautical miles off the Somali coast. It was carrying 58,000 tonnes of coal from Mozambique’s Maputo port.
