The Shahjalal University of Science and Technology authorities launched biometric attendance system on Wednesday to encourage the employees of the university to arrive at work on time.

The SUST vice-chancellor professor Farid Uddin Ahmed inaugurated the launching of biometric attendance system at the administrative building on the campus.


He said that this initiative was taken to familiarise the employees of the university with digital system.

‘Efforts are currently under way to launch the system for students in classrooms,’ said professor Farid Uddin, who also sought the cooperation of everybody to speed up the administrative activities of the university.

The SUST acting registrar Fazlur Rahman said that the biometric machines had been installed in five buildings initially and the machines would be installed gradually in the rest of the buildings on the campus within the next two months.

Besides, the SUST treasurer professor Amina Parveen, Teachers Association president professor Mohammad Anwarul Islam and others attended the inaugural ceremony.Â
