
Former attorney general and the main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson鈥檚 lawyer Abdul Jamil Mohammad Ali, popularly known as AJ Mohammad Ali, died at a Singapore hospital early Thursday.
Mohammad Ali鈥檚 junior Md Asaduzzaman told 抖阴精品 that his senior was undergoing treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore.
The 73-year-old man was suffering from postulated cancer, and liver and kidney problems and left the country on April 28 for treatment.
Mohammad Ali is survived by his wife, a son, and a daughter.
The time of his namaz-e-janaza would be informed following the arrival of the body from Singapore.
Senior lawyer Mohammad Ali used to defend jailed former prime minister Khaleda Zia, now staying at her rented house by an executive order, as her chief counsel, in several dozen criminal cases she has been facing.
He also used to provide legal assistance to most of the senior BNP leaders in many cases.听
Asaduzzaman said that the body of Mohammad Ali, also the incumbent president of BNP鈥檚 lawyer wing, Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum, would reach in Dhaka on Friday.

Mohammad Ali was enrolled as a High Court lawyer on February 2, 1980, and an Appellate Division lawyer in 1985.
Mohammad Ali, who was appointed an additional attorney general, was promoted to the post of the attorney general during the BNP regime on April 30, 2005.
He later resigned from the position on January 24, 2007, after the army-led caretaker government assumed power on January 11, 2007.
Mohammad Ali served as the president of the Supreme Court Bar Association in 2013-2014, and a Bangladesh Bar Council Executive Committee member for 2018-2021.
