
Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority managing director GSM Jafarullah expressed optimism that unicorn startups (companies worth Tk聽10,000 crore) will emerge from the University Innovation Hub in the coming days.
Jafarullah said this in his chief guest鈥簊 speech at the signing ceremony of memorandum of understanding for setting up University Innovation Hub in 10 universities organised at BHTPA鈥簊 conference room on Tuesday, said a press release.
Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority is working to develop University Innovation Hub to develop university-centric innovation and startup culture in the country. BHTPA鈥簊 Digital Entrepreneurship and Innovation Ecosystem Development project has signed MoUs with 10 universities for this purpose.
Digital Entrepreneurship and Innovation Ecosystem Development project director Abul Fatah Md Baligur Rahman and representatives of 10 selected universities signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions.
In the event, it was informed that innovation hubs are being set up in Chittagong University, Khulna University, Bangladesh University of Engineering, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University of Science and Technology, Gopalganj, Barendra University Rajshahi, United International University and BRAC University.
The three universities that have already set up innovation hubs are Chittagong University, Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology and United International University.
The Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority will construct the hub and undertake proper management, necessary renovation and repair work of the hubs during the project. At the end of the project, the university authorities will maintain and manage them under their own management.
Gopalganj鈥檚 Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University professor AQM Mahbub, acting vice-chancellor of Barendra University Anand Kumar Saha, registrar of different universities, sub-project director, director of BHTPA and senior officials were present.
