Today is the 20th death anniversary of the Independence Award winning veteran freedom fighter, former lawmaker and eminent labour leader Ahsan Ullah Master.
On the occasion, elaborate programmes have been taken by Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master Smriti Parishad in different areas, including Dhaka and Gazipur.
Marking the day, wreaths will be placed at the grave of Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master at Hyderabad village of ward number-39 in Gazipur City Corporation on Tuesday.
Besides, discussion, dua and milad mahfil will be organised by Gazipur metropolitan unit Awami League, Bhawal Sahitya O Sanskritik Parishad, Tongi Press Club and Bhawal Ideal Academy in the afternoon marking the day.
Liberation war affairs minister AKM Mozammel Haque is expected to attend the discussion as a chief guest. Md Zahid Ahsan Russel, MP, will attend the programme as a special guest. Lawyer Azmot Ullah Khan, Md Ataullah Mondol and lawyer Md Waj Uddin Mia will address, among others, at the discussion.
On May 7, 2004, during the then BNP-Jamaat regime, a group of terrorists shot him death at a public rally on the Noyagaon MA Majid Mia High School ground in Tongi, Gazipur.
