The 29th annual US trade show will begin at the InterContinental Hotel in the capital Dhaka on Thursday and continue until May 11.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh and the United States Embassy, Dhaka are cosponsoring the three-day trade Show, said Syed Ershad Ahmed, president of AmCham, at a press conference on Tuesday.


He said that the trade show would exhibit over hundreds of US products represented by 44 exhibitors from home and abroad.

In addition to the exhibition of American products and services, there will also be five seminars during the event, he added.

The show will remain open for visitors all three days from 10:00am to 8:00pm. The entry free has been set at Tk 30 per person. Students in uniform or with identity cards will be allowed free access to the show.

John Fay, commercial counselor of the US embassy in Dhaka, said that this show brings opportunity for the US companies in Bangladesh to show their high-quality products.

The US companies are always exploring new opportunities and places to invest, he added.

The show was first organised in 1992, and now emerged as Bangladesh’s premier annual business event, Ershad said in the press conference.

The show will be inaugurated by Salman Fazlur Rahman, private industry and investment adviser to the prime minister, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, state minister for posts, telecommunications and information technology, AmCham president Syed Ershad Ahmed and US ambassador Peter D Haas on Thursday.
