
Foreign minister Hasan Mahmud said on Wednesday that the issue of Bangladesh nationals killed by the Indian Border Security Force along the border would be raised during the visit of India’s foreign secretary, Vinay Mohan Kwatra.
Vinay Mohan Kwatra is expected to arrive in Dhaka on Wednesday evening on a two-day visit.
‘We will raise the border killing issue with the Indian foreign secretary for discussion during his visit to Dhaka,’ he told reporters at his office.
When asked about the sudden rise in the incidents of killing of Bangladeshi nationals by BSF along the border, he said that they had been in regular consultations with New Delhi to prevent such incidents.
Asked about Wednesday’s shooting death of two Bangladeshi youths by BSF at Tetulia border of Panchagarh, the minister said that the incident of border killing was sad.
The forces of both the sides were always asked for measures so that such incidents did not take place.
The latest incident of border killing took place hours before the Indian’s foreign secretary scheduled visit to Dhaka.
Vinay Mohan is expected to arrive in Dhaka on Wednesday evening and his official engagements here would begin on Thursday morning, according to officials.
