The body of left leader and author Haider Akbar Khan Rano will be buried today in the Banani graveyard.

Haider Akbar Khan Rano, an advisory council member of the Communist Party of Bangladesh, died early Saturday at a city hospital suffering from lung diseases.


His body was kept in the mortuary of Samarita Hospital.

His daughter Rana Sultana had already returned to Dhaka with her family members, family sources of Rano said.

The body will be taken to the CPB central office at 10:00am where leaders and activists of the party will pay their last respects to the leader.

Then the body will be taken to Central Shaheed Minar, where on behalf of the deputy commissioner of the Dhaka district, the police will give a guard of honour to the deceased freedom fighter as a sign of state respect.

The body will be kept there for paying last respects by the people from all walks of life.

After that, the body will be taken to Dhaka University mosque where his namaz-e-janaza will be held at 1:30pm.

He will be finally laid to rest in the Banani graveyard beside the grave of his father and mother.

Different political parties and organisations continued expressing deep shock at the death of Rano.

The Ganosamhati Andolan, the Democratic Revolutionary Party, the Jatiya Mukti Council, and Rastra Sanskar Andolan and Gonoshasthaya Kendra聽聽聽 expressed condolences in separate press statements over the death of the veteran politician.
