Sadeq Khan

Today marks the 8th death anniversary of senior journalist Sadeq Khan, a language movement hero and freedom fighter.

Born on January 1, 1933, he passed away at the age of 84 in 2016, said a press release on Wednesday. 


Sadeq, the eldest son of late Justice Abdul Jabbar Khan, was awarded the state honour Ekushe Padak in 2002.

He was the contributing editor at Weekly Holiday and chairman of the Gonoshasthaya Kendra Trust.

In addition to his roles as a writer, researcher, and filmmaker, Sadeq was well known for his expertise as an art critic.

He was the director and producer of a pioneer Bengali art-film ‘Nodi O Nari’.

He was an active member of the then Communist Party and the chairman of the Press Institute of Bangladesh.Â
