
Directorate General of Health Services held a meeting titled ‘Mapping Public Health for Global Health Security: Surveillance System, Public Health Laboratories, and Policy Documentation’ at DGHS Bhavan in Dhaka on Thursday.
The event has been graced by the presence and direction of professor Meerjady Sabrina Flora, additional director general (planning and development), DGHS, said a press release.
The commencement address for the event was delivered by Mir Mobarak Hossain, deputy director (planning and research), DGHS.
The meeting provided an overview of the mapping of surveillance systems, public health laboratory mapping, and public health policy documentation activities, funded by the US CDC and implemented by Jhpiego Bangladesh, Safetynet and association of public health laboratories in collaboration with DGHS.
The speech session on the topics were presented by Neely Kaydos-Daniels, country director, US CDC on global health security, Samiha Yunus, team lead (surveillance), Jhpiego Bangladesh, and Syed
Hassan Md Abdullah, country lead, Safetynet. Global surveillance activities of Jhpiego were presented by Setara Rahman, country lead, Jhpiego Bangladesh.
The open forum was adeptly steered by Manoshi Saha Tuli, medical officer, planning and research, DGHS. As special guest of the event, professor Ahmedul Kabir, additional director general (administration), DGHS, had shared his word of wisdom with the attendees. The symposium reached its conclusion with the remarks of Meerjady Sabrina Flora.
