Police arrested the superintendent of Shaheed Sheikh Abu Naser Dakhil Madrassah from Sonadanga in Khulna on Friday afternoon on the allegation of molesting a class 3 child.
Earlier on Friday morning, the child鈥檚 father filed a case against the madrassah super Hasibur
Rahman Hasib under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act with the Sonadanga police station.
The child is currently under the care of the victim support center.
According to police and family members of the victim, the child and her brother used to go to the madrassah teacher鈥檚 house for private tutoring every evening.
On Thursday evening, the accused allegedly sent the child鈥檚 brother away and molested the child.
Upon returning home, the child cried and disclosed the matter to her mother.
Locals protested at the incident in front of the teacher鈥檚 house in the evening.
Uttam Kumar Mitra, a sub-inspector and investigating officer of the Sonadanga police station, said that a case was filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act against the superintendent of the madrassah.
The accused was arrested from his residence in the afternoon and he will be sent to jail through court proceedings, he said.
