Members of Rapid Action Battalion arrested four people with 7 lakh pieces of contraband Yaba tablets at Ukhia Marine Drive Road in Cox’s Bazar Sunday night.

The arrested are Abdul Amin, 40, son of Haji Mohammad Ali, Zafar Alam, 26, son of Dil Mohammad of Deil Para of Teknaf municipality, Mohammad Abdullah, 35, son of Abu Sayed, Nurul Absar, 28 son of Mohammad Kashem of Godarbil area of ​​Teknaf Sadar union.


Major Shariful Ahsan, deputy commander of RAB-15, said in a press conference that, they got information about smuggling of a large consignment of drugs from Teknaf to Cox’s Bazar city. Based on the information, a team of RAB set up a temporary search post in Patuartek area of ​​Jaliapalong union of Ukhia upazila on Marine Drive Road.

At one stage during the search, RAB seized 7 lakh Yaba tablets from a car and arrested four persons.

The arrested were Yaba dealers and there were multiple drug cases against them, said RAB after primary interrogation.

RAB officer Shariful said that in the initial interrogation, the arrested admitted that they came to Bangladesh with a consignment of drugs from Myanmar.

A case had been filed against the arrested with Ukhia police station, he added.
