Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Journal achieved Scopus indexing status on May 19, said a press release.

Scopus is a large, multidisciplinary database of scientific journals, books and conference proceedings. It delivers a comprehensive overview of the world鈥檚 research output in the fields of science, technology, medicine, social science, and arts and humanities. It is hosted by Elsevier Publishers.


International independent Scopus review committee approved the BSMMU Journal after evaluating it based on 14 criteria, including quality of published papers, diversity of papers, international recognition and diversity of editorial board members and others.

Vice-chancellor of the BSMMU and journal editor-in-chief Professor Deen Mohd Noorul Huq congratulated members of the editorial board of the journal and the officers and employees of the journal office for the achievement.

He hoped that the teachers, doctors and residents of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University would receive international awards for their contribution to medical science in the future.

The members of the editorial board of the BSMMU Journal met the BSMMU vice-chancellor Deen Mohd Noorul Huq at his office on Monday.

Among others, the BSMMU pro-vice-chancellor, administration, Professor Saif Uddin Ahmed; pro-vice-chancellor, academic, Professor Mohammed Atiqur Rahman; dean and chairman of public health and informatics department Professor Md Atiqul Haque, registrar Professor A B M Abdul Hannan, proctor Professor Md Habibur Rahman and internationally renowned researcher and the BSMMU Journal executive editor Professor M Mostafa Zaman met the BSMMU vice-chancellor and congratulated him for the achievement.
