
The Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy inaugurated a four-day classical music and dance festival at its National Theatre Hall on Sunday.
The 16th Classical Music and Dance Festival has been organised under the management of music, dance and recitation department of the BSA.
The event is featuring performances by classical vocalists, dance artistes and instrumentalists from across the country.
Cultural affairs secretary Khalil Ahmed inaugurated the festival.
The BSA director general Liaquat Ali Lucky presided over the opening ceremony.
Students of the BSA staged a group dance recital titled Nrityanjali, Jagannath University students performed group songs, dance troupe Manipuri Natpala Sangathak staged Manipuri dance recital and artistes of Srishti Cultural Centre staged Bharatanatyam dance.
Asit Dey, Anil Kumar Saha, Kanij Ahamed Simpi, Rezauk Haque, Pradip Nandi and Supriya sang solo classical songs while Dipa Khandakar, Rachel Priyanka Perris, Maria Farih Upoma, Tajim Chakma and Ishtiak Imran staged classical dance at the venue.
Dance troupes Dikkha, Nrityanchal and Rewaz Performance School will stage group dance recitals and 聽Amit Chowdhury, Snata Shahrin, Warda Rihab and Prantik Deb will stage solo dance recitals at the festival today.
Besides, Karim Shahabuddin, Shekhar Mondal, Sheikh Jasim, Saiful Taankar, Abhijit Kundu and Susmita Debnath Suchi will sing classical songs.
