The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Thursday cleared the way for holding viva voce of 46,199 selected candidates for the post of assistant teachers of the government primary schools under Dhaka and Chattogram divisions.

Chamber judge, Justice M Enayetur Rahim, however, directed the Directorate of Primary Education not to publish results of the viva voce until the Criminal Investigation Department submits the probe report over allegation of holding the recruitment test with leaked questions papers to the court.

The chamber judge issued the directive after modifying the High Court order that on May 29 stayed the process of recruiting the assistant teachers from among the 46,199 candidates selected on the basis of the written test in which questions papers were leaked.

The High Court granted the stay on the recruitment process for six months after hearing a writ petition filed by Jewel Ratan Das and 14 others disqualified candidates.

The Appellate Division paved the way for resuming the recruitment process after hearing separate petitions filed by the primary and mass education ministry and the Directorate of Primary Education challenging the High Court order.
