Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, the only cricketer along with India captain Rohit Sharma to participate in the all the T20 World Cup since its inception in 2007, expressed a desire to participate in the next edition as well.

The ninth edition of the tournament begins in the United States and the West Indies on Saturday.

‘When I started, I could not imagine I could play cricket for so long. First and foremost, I could participate in all the T20 World Cups, from the first World Cup to this World Cup. For me, it is a matter of pride and joy, more so because I am representing my country at the same time,’ Shakib said in a video published by the Bangladesh Cricket Board as part of their ‘Green Red Story’ series ahead of the World Cup.

‘It makes me feel good. Me and Rohit Sharma are the only two players who have played in all the T20 World Cups. I hope I can play in another World Cup and perform well in this World Cup, and I wish Bangladesh got better results from any other past T20 World Cup.’

Bangladesh will begin their World Cup campaign when they take on Sri Lanka in Dallas on June 7.
