State minister for posts, telecommunications and information communications technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak on Tuesday asked two officials of the directorate of posts, including its director general Tarun Kanti Sikder to leave a meeting as they could not answer his questions regarding mismanagement and irregularities of the office.

Palak then asked him and the DG Tarun Kanti to leave the meeting room and come along with all the information within an hour.
Later, DG Tarun Kanti and the official returned to the meeting after about 30 minutes with information.
Palak said that the directorate of posts was losing Tk 700 crore annually for not being able to use vehicles, service points, and even land properly.
He announced that the properties of the directorate of posts would be leased to private companies and an agreement would be made with them by this June.
‘An anti-graft drive will also be conducted against officials of the directorate of posts,’ said Palak, adding, ‘He will not seek any allocation for the office in the next budget’.
