Mahmudullah, who is set to be one of Bangladesh’s key players in the forthcoming T20 World Cup in USA and West Indies, revealed that he felt hurt after being dropped from the squad for the 2022 T20 World Cup.

He led Bangladesh in the 2021 T20 World Cup and was included in the 2022 Asia Cup squad but was later axed ahead of the global event, where Bangladesh crashed out of the Super 12 stage.

The 38-year-old revealed that the axing hurt him as he felt he could have been selected.

‘When I was dropped from the 2022 T20 World Cup squad, I felt bad. I felt that I could have been picked. However, that did not happen, and I no longer feel bad about it,’ he said in a video published by the Bangladesh Cricket Board as part of their Green-Red story series.

‘There have been ups and downs in my career. I always believe in God. I believe there is always something to learn from either good or bad times.’

The all-rounder also hoped that they will be able to put out a good showing to win the trophy.

‘There is always the chance. There will be no lacking in our efforts. Hopefully, we will do something well,’ he said.

‘I think to win the trophy, you also need some help from lady luck. We have gone close in a few tournaments but unfortunately couldn’t do it. Now, there is another chance in front of us.’
