Two members of the Border Guard Bangladesh were wounded in firing reportedly by smugglers at the Naf River in Teknaf upazila of Cox鈥檚 Bazar on Tuesday night.

The wounded, Lance Naik Jewel and Sepoy Nandan, were under treatment at Ramu Combined Military Hospital.


Teknaf 2-Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Md Mohiuddin Ahmed confirmed the matter in a press release

He said that the attack was made when the BGB鈥檚 Nazirpara BOP in Teknaf was doing its regular anti-smuggling patrol in Naf River.

They encountered a boat at Rahman鈥檚 Canal in the river. The armed smugglers on board the boat suddenly started firing at the patrol. The BGB patrol also fired back. During the exchange of fire, the two BGB members became wounded. At one stage of the clash, the armed smugglers went inside the Myanmar border.
