A new 3-digit hotline number, 102, has been launched experimentally at the Dhaka central control room of the Fire Service and Civil Defence.
To receive emergency services, this service is being accepted from any part of Bangladesh initially from all operators other than T&T. This service will also be available from T&T soon.
The 11-digit phone number 02223355555 and the 5-digit hotline number 16163 of the control room will also be operational. However, after December 31, 2024, the 16163 will be closed. From then, only 102 hotline number will be operational.
Fire Service and Civil Defence provide service on information. One of the means of providing information by the service recipients is telephone. A 5-digit hotline number 16163 was introduced as the 11-digit telephone number was somewhat difficult to remember during an emergency. To make it easier, the Fire Service took the initiative to launch the 3-digit 102 hotline number.
People from all walks of life are requested to publicise the new hotline number 102 of the fire service to facilitate the quick assistance to the people in danger, said a press release.
