
A leader of Juba Dal, the youth wing of the main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party, was hacked to death by miscreants in Kahalu upazila of Bogura Saturday night.
The deceased, Birazul Islam Brasil, 34, was the former president of the Charmatha port unit of Bogura city unit Juba Dal.
Kahalu police station officer-in-charge Selim Reza said that a group of miscreants attacked Birazul at Talukdarmor area under Muroil union parishad at about 11:30pm, while he was heading to his father-in-law’s house in Porapara village on a motorcycle.
Birazul, who had been accused in 29 cases, filed with various police stations in the district, was recently released on bail, the OC said.
No case had been lodged with the police station as of 4:20pm on Sunday, the police official added.
‘We are anticipating that Birazul was killed due to previous enmity,’ Selim Reza said, adding, ‘The body is sent to Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for an autopsy’.
