The families of the Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology students Shanta Saha and Towfiq Hossain, who were killed in a road accident at Kaptai in Chattogram, received Tk 20 lakh on Thursday.
The student who was injured during the accident also received taka three lakh at the same programme.
Deputy commissioner of Chattogram, Abul Bashar, handed over the money to the families at a ceremony at Chattogram Circuit House.
He said that the construction work for the expansion of Chittagong-Kaptai road would start within two months, and the road would be renamed after Shanta and Towfiq.聽
On April 22, Shanta Saha, 21, and Towfiq Hossain, 20, of the CUET were killed in the road accident as a speedy bus hit them while they were riding a bike at a road in Kaptai.
Zakaria Himu, 20, was injured in the accident.
The CUET students had blocked the Chittagong-Kaptai road for three days protesting at the the unwanted killings.
