Police recovered the body of a shop owner from a residential building in the port city’s Bashundhara area in Halishahar on Friday afternoon.

The deceased is M Motaleb, 37, of Cumilla.

Muzahidul Hasan, officer-in-charge of the Halishahar police station, said that they received a phone call from 999 that the people of the building named Jahanara Mansion were getting a bad smell.

‘We went to the spot and recovered Motaleb’s body from the store room of his shop on the ground floor of the building,’ he said, adding that he might have died four days ago.

Motaleb had a phone-fax shop and an electronic shop, the OC said, adding that he rented the floor for trading five years ago.

He had been missing since June 10, and his family members filed a general dairy with the Halishahar police station.

Primarily, police suspected that he might have a heart attack.

The body was sent to the Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue.
