
Bangladesh men鈥檚 U-21 team were on the brink of reaching the semi-finals of the Junior AHF Cup 2024 after a 4-2 win over Thailand in their five-team Pool-A third match at the Seng Kang Sports Centre in Singapore on Wednesday.
Bangladesh lead the table with nine points from all wins, followed by Thailand and Indonesia, who have six points from three games each.
Bangladesh beat hosts Singapore 7-0 and Sri Lanka 5-0 in their previous two matches and will play the final game of their pool against Indonesia today.
In the day鈥檚 game, Bangladesh rallied from a goal behind to defeat Thailand, which took the lead in the first minute thanks to Kraiwich Thawichat鈥檚 field goal until Md Abdullah equalised in the 15th minute with a penalty corner.
Shimul Islam (26th) and Aman Sharif (40th) scored a field goal each before Hosifa Hossain (48th) scored from the penalty corner to give Bangladesh a 4-1 lead.
Arfis Hayseeda-Oh pulled another goal for Thailand in the 56th minute.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh鈥檚 women鈥檚 U-21 team conceded their first defeat in the competition after a 0-3 loss to Chinese Taipei in Singapore.
Bangladesh beat Thailand 5-4, Hong Kong 2-1, and Sri Lanka 7-2 in their previous three matches of the seven-team single-pool fray.
