Jagannath University marketing department professor Md Jakir Hossain has joined the University Grants Commission as a full-time member.
He submitted his joining letter to the UGC chairman (additional duty) professor Mohammad Alamgir on Wednesday.
On June 13, education ministry appointed professor Jakir as a full-time member of the commission for four years through a notification. As a member, he will get other benefits as per the existing rules.
Professor Jakir Hossain completed his honours and Master鈥檚 degrees from the marketing department of Dhaka University and obtained his MSc in Business Administration from BTH, Sweden. Later, he obtained PhD degree from Dhaka University.
A total of 20 research articles of professor Jakir have been published in reputed journals at home and abroad. He has published 4 books and edited 8 books. He has also served as editor-in-chief of Jagannath University鈥檚 Journal of Business Studies.
About 29 years of teaching life, apart from academic duties, professor Jakir served as Jagannath University marketing department chairperson, business studies faculty dean, syndicate member, finance committee member, academic council member, teachers鈥� association president and Open University syndicate member, teachers鈥� association general secretary and treasurer. He was also the president of Jagannath University鈥檚 Nil Dal.
