Different cultural organisations celebrated World Music Day organising processions and music shows in the capital on Friday.

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy organised a programme at National Theatre Hall and Bangladesh Sangeet Sangathan Samannay Parishad inaugurated a two-day programme at Kendrio Kochi Kachar Mela Auditorium at Segun Bagicha in Dhaka.


The BSA organised a music show at the National Theatre Hall at 6:30pm.

Director general of the BSA Liaquat Ali Lucky, director of music, dance and recitation department of the BSA Kazi Aftab Uddin Hablu, the BSA secretary Salahuddin Ahmed and Dhaka University music department assistant professor Sayeem Rana spoke at the programme.

The programme began with a group instrumental recital titled ‘Sunflower’.

Later, artistes of the academy entertained the audience singing songs, including Amake Porate Jadi, Ami Saat Sagar Diye, Tumi Ki Dekhechho Kabhu, Tumi Sutoy Bedhechhe, Akasher Haate Achhe, Ami Rajanigandha Phuler Moto, Ainate Oi Mukh, Phuler Kane Bhromor and others.

Child artistes of the BSA sang songs, including Anandaloke Mangalaloke, Dao Shorjo Dao Dhorjo, Sotto Bol Supothe Chol and others.

Besides, guest singers Priyanka Biswas, Krishnokoli, Abanti Sithi, Apu Aman, Elita Karim, Kishore Das, Jhilik and others sang Dhono Dhanno Pushpe Bhora and Abar Elo Je Shondha at the programme to the delight of the audience.

National minority community all-women band F Minor sang songs Jongla Phul and Mone Kori Assam Jabo.

Instrumentalists Debashish Das, Sayeed Faruki Chandan, Sayeed Hasan Babu, Tanvir Alam Sajib, Falah Hosain and Alamgir Hossain performed at the programme, which was anchored by Dilruba Sathi and Nurul Hasnat Jilani.

Bangladesh Sangeet Sangathan Samannay Parishad inaugurated a two-day programme at the Kendriyo Kochi Kachar Mela with a procession at 4:00pm. Members of the organisation and guests participated in the procession.

Besides, the first day of the event featured discussion, award ceremony and music show.

Cultural affairs secretary Khalil Ahmed was present as chief guest at the programme, which was presided over by the president of the BSSSP and Ekushey Padak-winning singer Mahmud Selim.

Ekushey Padak-winning singer Sheikh Sadi Khan was present as discussant at the programme. Besides, general secretary of the BSSSP Narayan Chandra Shil delivered the welcome speech at the event.

Cultural organisations Nirkharini Academy, Lokangan Sangskritik Sangathan, Rabirashmi and others performed at the programme.

The event will feature performances by cultural organisations Santarekha Shilpi Gosthi, Sangeet Bhaban, Surnandan, Udichi, Bangladesh Academy of Fine Arts and others today.
