
Theatre troupe Prangonemor staged its production titled ‘Abhineta’ at the Bangladesh Mahila Samity on Friday.
Abhineta, the 16th production of Prangonemor, has been written by Ananta Hira and directed by Nuna Afroz.
The play revolves around an actor known as Mancha Maharaj, a journalist Nila Chowdhury and a makeup artiste Bangojeet Datta.
Mancha Maharaj is a freedom fighter. He handed over his firearms and pursued cultural activities and theatre practice in order to change people and society.
For five decades, he devoted himself to making people’s lives better. People fondly call him the Mancha Maharaj. But suddenly the actor disappears.
Abhineta begins with journalist Nila investigating the disappearance of the actor. She comes to Bangojeet to know more about Mancha Maharaj as the makeup artiste was very close to the actor.
Bangojeet becomes surprised when he comes to know that the actor has disappeared. He tells Nila that he is waiting in the makeup room for the actor, who never comes late.
Nila starts asking questions and Bangojeet recalls his memories of the actor and the play moves forward.
Ananta Hira, Prokriti Shikder and Shabuktaign Shuvo played different characters in the play.
Besides, Thandu Raihan designed stage lighting while Shazu Khadem designed the stage and Neel Kamrul designed music, among others, in the play.
Prangonemor has received a good response from theatre lovers bringing 15 theatrical productions, including, Hasonjaner Raja, Ami o Rabindranath, Aurangzeb, Condemned Cell, Sheymaprem, Swadeshi, Loknayak, Raktakarabi, Droho Prem Nari, Shesher Kabita, Irsha and others to the stage.
