Newly appointed member of Bangladesh University Grants Commission professor Md Jakir Hossain on Satuday paid tribute to Bangladesh鈥檚 founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing a wreath at his mausoleum at Tungipara in Gopalganj.
Later, he offered prayer seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and other martyrs, who embraced martyrdom on August 15, 1975 and in the Liberation War in 1971.
After the tribute, Jakir Hossain wrote comments and signed the inspection book, kept in the administrative building of the mausoleum.
Secretary of the commission Ferdous Zaman, additional director Md Shaheen Siraj, deputy director and general secretary of UGC Officers Association Md Mohibbul Ahsan, deputy directors Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Md Golam Dastagir, president of UGC Employees Union Anwar Hossain, general secretary Md Shahadat Hossain, among others, were present.
On June 19, Jagannath University marketing department professor Md Jakir Hossain joined the University Grants Commission as a full-time member. On June 13, education ministry appointed him as a full-time member of the commission for four years through a notification.
