
The Chattogram City Corporation announced a budget of Tk 1981.52 crore for the financial year 2024-25 on Thursday.
Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, mayor of the city corporation, declared the budget for the fourth time at the Theatre Institute Hall, providing detailed data on the city鈥檚 past, present, and future action plans.
During the budget session, attended by the CCC ward councillors, officials, and journalists, it was announced that no new tax had been imposed on city residents in the budget.
The Mayor also declared the revised budget for the 2023-24 financial year, which was Tk 1887.28 crore.
The implementation rate of the previous financial year鈥檚 budget was 88 per cent, he added.
In a view exchange with journalists and officials, Rezaul Karim Chowdhury stated that the accounting department of CCC would come under full automation by 2025.
He urged holding owners and government institutions to pay taxes regularly to keep civic services and development work in motion, aiming to build an aesthetic, clean, green, and liveable city.
Presided over by the CCC acting chief executive officer M Asharaful Amin, the budget session featured presentations by panel mayor Afroza Kalam, chief revenue officer Nazrul Islam, and additional chief accounting officer Humayun Kabir.
